There is no such thing as a perfect relationship, nor is there a perfect man or woman. What does exist, is someone who is perfect enough for you. Every relationship experiences good and bad times. How do you know when to get out? EGL took a social media poll to find out the top three reasons why people walk away from their relationships.
- Sex. Believe it or not, many feel that lack of sexual connection is a reason to leave a relationship. People want to be able to connect physically. Many feel that if their significant other isn’t giving them sex frequently enough, that it is a reason to leave. We here at EGL advise that if you are in this situation, to try to fix things with your partner. Depending on where you are in the relationship, a simple reminder or spicing things up may be all you need to spruce up your sex life. If you are considering marrying this person, counseling may also be an option.
- When the bad outweighs the good. If you are constantly feeling sad or angry in your relationship more than you have happy feelings, there may be an issue. EGL advises that you do make a list of the pros and cons in your relationship (yes, just like the Why Did I Get Married film) and see what the results are. If the cons heavily outweigh the pros, it just may be time to leave.
- Lack of communication and trust. This one is very self- explanatory. If something happens where your trust is totally gone and you think you cannot get it back, re-evaluate your situation. When you notice the communication is going bad, make sure you try to be the one to begin the communication. Communication and trust are the main keys to unlocking any relationship, whether on the love, family, or friendship level. If you do not have those, there is no need to have this person in your life.
EGL hopes this helps those who are having relationship issues. No matter what, even if the relationship ends, you can dust off and try again. There are plenty of fish in the sea!
