“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. – Jeremiah 29:11

In a life lead by God, there is no such thing as a coincidence. Every aspect of your life, including the man you marry, is stamped and approved by God. If you recently went through an anomaly of a break-up, look at it as if God is trying to reroute you. Instead of focusing your energy on why the relationship didn’t work or what you could’ve done to change it, focus your energy on God and what He has for you.

Here’s how to get started:

“You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.” – Jeremiah 29:12

  1. Seek. To truly refocus your energy on God, you must make a conscious decision to dedicate time to Him everyday. Start by setting a time and time frame that works best for you to spend with God and stick with it.
  1. Pray. Talk to God. Let Him know how you’re feeling and expect an answer. Praying to God is like conversing with a friend. Expect and listen for feedback. Don’t be wary if at first many of your conversations are about your recent break-up. The key is to share.

“All scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.” – 2 Timothy 3:16-17

  1. Read. The Bible is one of the ways God communicates with us. Pick it up and start off by reading a scripture or chapter a day. If you’re dealing with something like pain or anger over the recent break-up, turn to the concordance of the Bible and look for scriptures relating to those feelings.

Remember, sometimes God has to rip something out of you or away from you to birth something new in you. Look at your break ups as just that!
