You’re single, celibate and your new favorite song is drunk in love, but do you really want to be thinking about surfboarding techniques while you put your shop on lockdown with a huge do not enter unless you are my husband sign hanging above it?

So you’re lonely, single and celibate. Those concoctions don’t really mix well and in order to maintain your celibacy contract you are going to have to go through some extreme measures to avoid anything that’ll make it rain in your desert. So what are some things celibate women can do to resist sexual temptation? One of the main things a woman can do to tame her hormones is avoiding anything that sounds like it might bring you back to a moment of sexual nostalgia. I understand your girlfriends love to talk about their wild nights in the backseat of their boyfriends car and Beyoncé is still wondering how the hell she woke up in the kitchen but is that really what you want to hear when the only person you have peeking into your temple is your gyn?
Tell your friends it’s great that their sex lives are magnificent but you don’t need to be surrounding yourself with topics that you have forbidden yourself to delve in. Talking about sex to a celibate person is like talking about cocaine to a drug addict. If you were in recovery would you surround yourself with the thing that you fought so hard to avoid?
If celibacy is what you truly want to commit to then you need to be cautious and avoid all the things that stimulate you in the process. That goes from simple conversations to the music you listen to. So cleanse that iPod of anything that might arouse you and tell your girlfriends to save their stories for your wedding night. Until then, keep your space clean and your door closed to anything that might activate any type of temptation.
