“It’s a new year, new me!” How many people actually stick to their resolutions of self improvement? With it being a new year and you wanting to have a “new you,” there are things that you should change. Here is how to create these changes but not make exact resolutions.
If you have a spiritual base, ask God to guide you in this upcoming year. It really is that simple.

Write down a list of your goals that you want to achieve in the year. Make sure they are realistic. An easy way to do this is write down five short term goals that you want to make before summer. The other five should be long term goals before the year is over. Once you write this list, study it and begin the process of reaching these goals. Hide your list somewhere, like in your Bible, and then come back to it every month to see how much progress you have made. This tactic usually works if you follow up with it on a regular basis.
You have to remember that no one is going to take care of you like you will. If you find yourself prioritizing others way too much, (like that man that doesn’t mean you any good) you need to withdraw yourself from that situation. People like that are users and all about what you can provide for them. This includes family as well. Learn to love and help from a distance without hurting their feelings and without you feeling bad. You have to realize that you are the number one priority; not everyone else. The only exception to this would be if you are a parent; and even so you still have to take care of YOU…if you don’t, how can you take care of your child?
“New Year, New Me,” can also mean transitional changes that need to be made. What is holding you back from wanting to find a new job, or finding that new apartment or home that you want so badly? Never accept being comfortable. Make it a priority to follow the steps necessary for your success. If you feel finances are an issue; then you must find another job; or pick up a second job in order to attain your goals. It can be done.
Remember, nothing beats a failure but a try! No one is going to love you and take care of you like YOU. Don’t wait on anyone to help or do it for you.
