Getting Back To Happy

Going through a break-up is never easy, especially when you lost “the one” who you thought you’d be with forever. It’s ok, it happens! Sometimes we try to force relationships to last a lifetime when they are only meant to last a season. Either way, most of us have been there and survived. Since most women admit that the hardest part of changing their relationship status is finding their way back to happy, here are a few things to help you get started.

Forgiveness. You have to forgive yourself and forgive the person who hurt you. Sometimes in life we hold on to grudges instead of forgiving. Often, we generalize people into one category. For example, all men are dogs. Or, we label ourselves as failures. These are not fair statements, but it’s a sign of us acting on our emotions. Once we truly forgive in our hearts, we will be able to love freely.

Self-Love. Self-love is the ability to love yourself unconditionally. If you don’t fully love yourself, no one else will. That said, we have to stop looking to others to fill our emotional voids, and truly start the process by loving ourselves.

Give it time. Time doesn’t heal all wounds, but it does make them manageable. Therefore, take time for yourself. Do all the things you enjoy. This will give you a chance to make sure you have arrived at your best before leaping back into the dating world.

Always remember forgiveness, self-love, and time are the key ingredients to help you get back to happy. Look at your life like the NBA draft. Only the best players will get selected to the big leagues. Sometimes in life we only get one shot and you don’t want to miss out on your opportunity because you are not fully ready to receive it.
