New Rules: No More Single-Shaming Women Over 30

Ladies, if you’re unmarried and close to the age of 30, you’ll become a “leftover,” according to society. That’s right, The Women’s Federation of China has coined the term “leftover women,” and it has been defined as unmarried women over the age of 27.

Unfortunately, his is not a new theory. Since forever, society has viewed women who are unmarried by a certain age as no good, while single men who are well over 30 are still looked at as valuable and desirable in the dating market. Why is it that women who are over 30 are not seen as marriage material? The sad belief is that women are worthless as they age, so women who are over 30 are viewed as leftovers. Society believes these women possess a multitude of problems, insinuating that it is something wrong with them and this is the reason they’re unmarried. Does it really have to be something wrong with a woman who isn’t married by a certain age? Here’s what a couple of people had to say about this topic:

Laquantus, 23 from Illinois, stated, “I think unmarried women over 30 are single for either one or two reasons. They’re either not submissive enough and have too many standards, or they’re not making themselves available to men who actually want to get married.”

In contrast, William, 26 of Illinois stated, “It’s nothing wrong with women who are unmarried and over 30, they probably make a lot of money and are really successful.”

Michael, 25, from New York said, “I think unmarried women over 30 are good women. Being unmarried doesn’t mean they have a problem.”

Obviously the views of men vary, but marriage is a big step and it shouldn’t be rushed into, regardless of your age. Ladies, it’s okay to want to settle down, but remember, it’s nothing wrong with waiting until you’re ready. If you are ready, just stay patient. Don’t worry about your age and keep yourself on the market. Your perfect guy is probably right around the corner waiting to bump into you!
