Dating: Me, Myself & I

Most women want to be swept off their feet by Mr. Prince Charming and live happily ever after. Most of us know that is not how the dating game works.

As women, we fall in love and go through break-ups, but what about the in between stage? The familiar down time period when a woman should get to know herself. Most women ignore this phase of the relationship because they fear being alone and usually settle for the wrong person. Why? Why do women settle for bad relationships?

• Self-Esteem Issues-Sometimes women settle because they feel like they are not good enough to get another man. If a

  woman feels this way, she will attract negative energy. Predators prey on what they consider to be weak.

• Ticking Biological Clock-Most women who are near the age of 30 have gotten the when are you going to settle down and have children lecture. This puts unnecessary pressure on women to satisfy the needs of their friends and family. This sometimes results in women staying in relationships that are not fulfilling because they hope their man will make them an honest woman. It also may get their family and friends off their back.

• Safety Net-Women stay in relationships because they are comfortable and it’s familiar. It’s safe. They are used to the guy and can read him like a book. However, the relationship may not be fulfilling, but the woman stays because she is scared of change. Always remember, change is good!

Queen B sang it best: “Me, myself, and I is all I got in the end.” This is true. As a woman, you can’t depend on anyone to make you happy but you! Regardless of your circumstances, love yourself and the right person will come along!
