My BFF Got a New Man and Doesn’t Have Time For Me

Don’t you hate it when your girlfriend gets a new man and suddenly doesn’t have time for you? If it doesn’t involve her other half, she’s nowhere to be found. It’s understandable that a blossoming relationship takes priority but we can’t forget about the people who’ve had our back since day one. Some women become so consumed with a man that they leave their girls behind.

Ironically, the first person they call when the relationship is in trouble is often that same person they ditched when the relationship began. As her friend, you want to be there for her but it can be hard to ignore those feelings of neglect. Furthermore, the type of friend who does this is often a repeat offender. She has a pattern of finding new guys and acting brand new toward her girls. She may have some insecurities about being alone so talk to her and get down to the real issue.

The first rule in “Girlfriend 101” is to never let a guy come between your friendship. Your friend shouldn’t only want to spend time with you when her man is acting up or out of town. That sisterly bond needs to be nurtured whether she’s single or not. Give her a pass if she misses a few girls’ nights out but make sure the communication is ongoing. Invite her to lunch so you can catch up and make sure she knows it’s for ladies only!

It might seem cute to be joined at the hip with a new boo but we can’t leave our girlfriends in the dark. Time away from our partners will actually strengthen the relationship and cure that tunnel vision. If you truly value your friendship, a man can never change that.
